Which Pokémon booster packs should you buy in 2026?

Choosing the right Pokémon booster pack can be difficult, especially when there are so many different sets, themes, and expansions to choose from. For some, it's about hunting for rare cards and building a strong collection, while others want to find fun packs to open or cards that are better suited for playing. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced collector, there are several great options to keep an eye on in 2026.

At NordicSportsCards, you'll find several popular Pokémon booster packs from both the Scarlet & Violet series and other sought-after products. In this guide, we'll go over which types of Pokémon packs may be most interesting depending on what you're looking for.

How should you think when choosing Pokémon booster packs in 2026?

The best booster pack for you depends on what you want to get out of the purchase. Some collectors look for sets with a strong sense of nostalgia, while others want to open newer expansions with modern Pokémon and new mechanics. There are also many who simply want a fun pack to open with a chance at cool holo-, EX-, or illustration cards.

When choosing which Pokémon packs to buy in 2026, it can be smart to keep the following in mind:

  • If you're buying for your collection, choose sets that you personally find visually or thematically interesting.
  • If you're buying for playing, look for newer expansions that feel relevant in the Pokémon TCG.
  • If you're buying as a gift, choose popular and easily recognizable booster packs.
  • If you want variety, combine several different sets instead of buying the same pack every time.

Which Pokémon packs are best for beginners?

For beginners, it's usually smart to start with booster packs that are easy to understand and fun to open, rather than trying to hunt for specific cards right away. The goal in the beginning is often to get to know different sets, build a basic collection, and find which Pokémon or expansions you personally like the most.

Therefore, it's often wise to start with modern booster packs such as:

They give you a good feel for what modern Pokémon cards look like and make it easier to get into both collecting and playing.

Sleeved booster packs or regular booster packs?

Another question many people ask themselves is whether to buy regular booster packs or sleeved booster packs.
